about

London based label SM-LL presents its third release on the small run vinyl Batch format 'Reloc - Batch 0002'.

Reloc is the new collaborative project of SM-LL label owner Martin J Thompson a.k.a Pokk!, Typeface, and wife Lucia H Chung a.k.a en creux.

Drawing inspiration from Berlin's U8 metro train, Reloc - Batch 0002 insists a limited use of oscillators in its sound, primarily that of the pulse wave. Batch 0002 delivers clinical and repetitive pulse wave rhythmical patterns ranging from extreme high, grating mid and low frequency structures. The opening 'Line U8' with its strict 4/4 pulses and buzz, maintains a prolonged stasis before plunging into restrained change. 'Bahnsteig' continues with this approach yet in a more broken fashion before moving into the calmer territories of 'Fahrplan'.

In addition to the 3 tracks on the 12", the digital version provides an additional recording of the actual U8 train with an additional 2 works 'W⇌H' and 'U8.2', further simplifying and focusing on the core ideas presented in the release.
